The Last Swim Meet

Wow! I can't believe it's over! We are all a little sad for the end of swim season, but it has been a great year! Our last meet of the season was very hot and muggy.....at times I wished I was the one in the water swimming! Savannah's swimming skills have improved incredibly over the course of the year and she even came in second to last in freestyle last night! Yes, she actually beat someone! She improved her time by 4 seconds! Unfortunately she was disqualified on backstroke for turning over and swimming a few strokes on her front. Oh well....there's always next year!
Shelby got a little creative with the marker and Joshua was a willing canvas! Shelby, Joshua, Samuel, and Savannah all got personal best times in various events, so it was a great way to finish off the season.

Here's a short video of Joshua swimming butterfly. He came in 6th place and was so excited because he gets a ribbon! He beat his time by 3.34 seconds.

Since it was the last meet of the season, both teams agreed to forfeit points for their relays in order to do some fun relays. The older kids did bellyflop dive-ins, there were some mixed age relay teams, and the coaches even participated. Samuel had the opportunity to be on the "Dream Team" relay with two other boys who are the best swimmers in his age group and a 15 yr. old boy named Morgan who is a competetive swimmer headed for the National Jr. Olympics! Those 3 little boys thought they were the coolest thing ever! I think it made their season to do that relay with Morgan! Samuel's swimming season continues for one more week since he has Champs next Monday. Check back next week for those pictures!

Go Savannah! That's awesome! I can't wait to see all the kids in November. I can't believe how much they have all grown!

Sounds like a successful swim season! My Kamryn had her last swim meet last week and got disqualified from both of her events. One for the same reason as yours - turning on her side at the very end of the backstroke! She would have taken 2nd place!! She was so sad! I guess there's always next year!
